To Get Authentically Branded AF you have to go to the root of what makes you great. For me it was family. Shallow branding is for punks. When you brand like a punk you're confused, inconsistent and not making any money. On top of that you feel fake AF because your competition seems to be blowing up.

You as the leader of your company are allowed to build the brand of your business around your authenticity. When I tell folx I was raised hood adjacent by a country momma, it's comes from an authentic place. Let's figure out what you can authentically.

Stop fighting to stay in business without a brand

It's time to stop being frustrated because you feel like you've been fighting for years by yourself. The first time you said, "Well, fuck it!" you got an LLC ya damn self. You built a website, ya damn self and you been fight'n ever since. You continue to fight because you made a leaped from LLC to website, completely bypassing your brand.

Nevertheless, this is one fight you can walk away from and still be a winner. I learned from my family how to fight. I learned from maturity how to win without fighting. Developing an authentic brand strategy will give you that win.

You don't have to drink the corporate kool-aid

Own that you're an entrepreneur who doesn't want to go along with the okie doke. Own that you no longer have to swallow the bullshit of who they think you should be. Folx have a million ideas on how you can be successful without knowing your definition of success.

When I drank what they were serving as the right way to be a business coach, I lost business. See, imposter syndrome is easy when you're being an imposter. As the brand leader of your company you get to control the narrative not as an imposter but with authenticity.

You think the market is saturated because everyone looks and talks the same. You're afraid to rock the boat and be different so you fall in line. You conform to the norms that make you part of the white noise in your industry or field.

I wasn't always the Ghetto Country Brandmother®. I shut down a multi-million dollar food business to become a Certified Business Coach making lunch money. I should never have gone into the f&b industry but that's besides the point.

When I started my coaching business, I didn't think it would be hard for me to get clients. I had catered for celebrities, appeared on television and in local and national news. I have a business degree and am an alum of various executive learning programs. Who wouldn't want to take advantage of all this experience and knowledge?

All I got were folx who didn't understand what I did or the value it would bring them. My experience and knowledge didn't count for shit.

Out of desperation I gave away coaching as much as I could. You would be surprised how many people turned down free. They would still ask me questions but they would never book an actual session.

 

It also didn't help that my introverted ass wanted to stay out of the limelight. I was used to being the best kept secret so everyone else looked good.

 

Then a thing happened.

I started my fourth certification to become a Master Coach. The subject matter was branding. Like so many other folx I only saw branding from the visual aspect.

 

I discovered what had been missing from my own businesses all these years. Even though the Bigmista brand had made millions, I was beginning to see the money left on the table.

 

That course began a chain reaction that set me free.

With all this freedom I was still scared as shit to step into the limelight. That's because I was an introverted entrepreneur and imposter syndrome was kicking my ass. That didn't stop me from taking classes, reading books and consuming videos to gain more brand knowledge.

It wasn't until I took that last step of freedom that I didn't have to work so hard to get my next paying client. I freed myself to base my brand on my authentic self. That freedom is also why I became a brand strategist.
